The Operating Fund supports all operational expenses of the organization. This includes administrative costs of running Diwan (website, accountant and marketing materials) and the costs of interviewing and hiring the Chaplain. Before April 1, 2015, the Fund was maintained by donations from the Directors.

The Ramadan & Eid Fund promotes Muslim fellowship on campus principally during Ramadan. Most donations are made to the Fund during the Iftaar Sponsorship Campaign, though the Fund is open for donations year-round. Activities supported by the Fund include iftaars, financing of visiting haafiz to lead taraweeh prayers, Ramadan contests, and events during Eid al-Fitr as well as Eid al-Adha.

Diwan Foundation Funds Policy

Diwan Foundation currently has accounts with the Bank of America. These are non-interest bearing accounts and all funds are currently held in cash.

While Diwan Foundation accepts donations directly to our account, we also encourage donors to arrange their monthly giving through Cornell Giving. This serves the dual purpose of fulfilling pledges as well as demonstrating Muslim alumni support to the University.

Diwan Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in state of New York. All donations are tax deductible.
